Photo Business Cards
Taking Your Own Photos. How To Take Great
Shots For Your Photo Business Cards.
This is pretty simple stuff, but apparently, many people
don't think about it because we get a tremendous amount of photo business
card customers who send in horrible photos.
So here's a list of things to consider:
- Smile. We got a good deal of photos of people looking
too serious or downright sullen and unhappy. A smiling person looks
confident, open and trustworthy. They at least look pleasant and easy
to do business with. If you're in the bodyguard or security business,
maybe this doesn't apply but for everyone else: SMILE!
- Dress appropriately. If you're in a white-collar business,
wear a suit and look professional. People may not want to hire your
company to do their taxes if your photo business cards show you dressed
in shorts and a fishin' t-shirt. If you're a handy man who does specialized
home repair and remodeling, don't wear a suit, wear a clean work shirt,
jeans and, by all means, wear your tool belt! Your photo business cards
are meant to represent your business and to let people know exactly
what your company offers. So, when you have your photo taken, dress
the part.
- Brush your hair. At least try to make it a good hair
day when you take your photos, you'd be amazed at some of the crazy
pictures we get with photo business card orders.
- Choose a current photo. You want to make sure your photo
business cards present an image that's recognizable when people meet
you face to face. You don't want a photo of you from 1985 in your AC/DC
t-shirt, ripped jeans and mullet hair cut. Not only did you look like
a dork in '85 (come on, we ALL did), but people won't recognize you
from seeing your photo business cards.
- Ask about touch up. Most photo business card printing
companies offer graphic design services. If your photo needs a little
touching up, they can probably do that. Some companies even include
this as part of the photo business card service. If your wrinkles show
up too much in your photo, if you had a big zit on your nose, if you
have red-eye in your photo, the image is just slightly out of focus
or the color just needs to be a bit more vibrant, a good designer can
usually help with all of that. We can't make a bad photo into a great
one, but we can usually help with small imperfections. I have regularly
made women look 10 years younger, reduced the appearance of double-chins,
slimmed people down, eliminated skin blemishes, brightened eye color
and various other things that make people look a lot better on their
photo business cards. It's cheaper than plastic surgery!
